Robotics Process Automation (RPA)

 RPA: A needed helping hand

RPA or Robotics Process Automation is a technology that helps build, deploy, manage, s/w robots, that match human interaction with the digital world.
RPA can be used to do repetitive tasks like writing an email to the boss, etc. RPA not only reduces the effort put into the tasks, but also saves time.

Some common myths about RPA:
  1. Its an humanoid robot.
  2. It is going to snatch the persons job
  3. It can control itself
None of these are true. RPA can not do anything by itself , for logical and critical thinking it needs the help of a human and hence is neither going to effect the persons job or value.

The 4 phases in RPA
There are 4 main phases in RPA:
  1. Planning: This involves the identification of the object and the process by which the robot is to be automated, and the finalisation of the implementation approach
  2. Development : It involves the implementation of the agreed automation workflows.
  3. Deployment and Testing: It is the most crucial phase of  RPA  as it ensures a bug free as-expected outputs.
  4.  Support and maintenance : It involves the smooth run and updating of the process.
Some of the tools used are:

  • UIPath
  • Automation Anywhere
  • Blue Prism
  • Work Fusion, etc

Some use cases of RPA are:
  • Finance
  • Verifying E-Reports
Some Benefits:
  • Improve Efficiency
  • Boost Productivity
  • Customer Satisfaction
  • Less Costs, Etc
